The Christmas party was a great success, everyone won something and had a good time. Turnout was good even tho it was a stormy night!  And new mystery kite kits were passed out so watch for a bunch of great new kites at this years Lee Toy fly.

December 15 Miguel and I will fly today, first time since 0ctober!...I will also put up my new crown for the first time !  Look for us at Berkeley!

December 25

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all my friends, and a Happy kiteflying New Year!

I'm going to the San Diego Kite club New Years fly at Mariners Island on Jan. 1... Will also attend the fighter fly the day before at Mission Bay.

December 28 Hey! I finally flew my new crown...what a gas , it even started raining while we were playing with it at Berkeley. Here are a couple photos of its first flight....and here is a link to the mpg!

More great news.... My kids got me a new digital camera for Christmas  YAY!  nor more bitching here about a lousy camera!  Deb and I are  headed down the coast all the way to San Diego.....  This should be fun.... she nearly filled her pants just standing on the Golden Gate Bridge yesterday! Will try to fly where it looks flyable (AND dry!)  watch for some GOOD photos here! If I can carry enough batteries!  I've taken about 10 photos and have used up 16 fricken batteries! MONTEREY tomorrow!

December 29 Hit Monterey after dark and in a pouring rain...sigh,    Still we ventured out on the pier for dinner.......surprise we were not the only nuts out in the rain, the pier was happening!

Found a hotel and giggled and struggled with the computer till after 4 am....geesh Im too old for all nighters!

The morning was dry and we headed to the Aquarium ......So did hundres of other folks, the lines were way up the block...Its the end of December , what the heck were all these people doing out and playing?  Plan B off to the kite store! Pat runs the last of the Windborne legacy just a block up the hill from the Aquarium . Pat has been a Golden Gate sponsor the last couple years AND all the local fliers always talk fondly of herso I justhad to go and introduce myself!  What I found wqas a cute little shop well stocked with kites and banners and toys. Pat turned out to be a gem of a gal. Had a nice long conversation with her and had trouble tearing myself away!

Pat at Windborne kites in Monterey and me. don't go near Monterey without going in to see Pat, and spend a couple of bucks too, it would be a crying shame to see this little store go away!

It began pouring rain again so we ran for the car and headed down hwy 1....after a slow windy rainy drive ( still it is beautiful out there  )  we arrived in Pismo Beach AND look the kite store is still open .  When we where down there for the Pismo event  (see October here in where's Brian)  I didn't get a chance to get in the store so was glad to have a second opportunity to ck it out...... HOLY COW now this is a kite store! these guys really know how do do it its a large place and is it crammed with fun stuff everywhere my eyes landed there was something I had to pick up! AND these two are the greatest, never will you find a couple of people friendlier and having more fun at work!....this is a must see store, but I warn you go early or you will be having dinner real LATE!

James and Kendra Warner of  "the skies the limit" kite shop in Pismo Beach California  (kitefart on right).

Had a late dinner at a crab joint and ck'd  into a motel for another night of talk and giggles and crashing laptops!  The am showed again with rain so we headed south again. the rain stopped and we began to "feel' ourselves flying in Belmont Shores Long Beach  as this was our next stop! the last leg of hwy 1 was a breeze and as beautiful as the rest finally we linked up to hwy 405 south and wheeled into Long Beach , Dry wind sand finally we can fly a kite, I resisted the urge to bring out the big stuff and we ran out with duel liners , set up and launched the same time as the skies let go once again.. sigh!  we flew till we were soaked and dragged our sandy soaked kite bags off the beach!  A good piece of beef and a couple margaritas charged us up enough to push on to Sandy Eggo........ HEY its dry here.

December 30

Well.......woke up to a nice ish day but by the time we got out of the room it started to pour again....gesus...I'm starting to get moldy! Pointed the car south and enjoyed a fairly easy ride down the coast the rest of the way to Long Beach where we had planned to fly at Belmont shores. It soon stopped raining and it was dry for about the three hours it took to get there....YAY we are here AND its not raining and there is wind... grabbed kites and ran out on the beach and spread crap out all over and set up a couple kites... and immediately it started to rain...no pour! Now wet and disappointed we decided to push on the rest of the way to sandy eggo....its dry now but the weather guessers say its a no fly day tomorrow...damn....like Dakota Deb says , hell ya don't have to shovel it! Deb has just pulled out a kite and handed it to me... here its yours!  Check it out !

Is that cool.. recognize it?  Yea, its a wasp from the Avispados  (the me bee) the one hanging on for dear life and of course the kites are my wasp colors AND talk about some tail!  That's the first one to go up if it ever stops raining!  Hi North Dakota Kathy.

December 31 Arrived at Mission Bay around noon to find a people already flying fighters and we packed our junk out there and joined in.

It was a nice day for the fighter event, Charley, Deb Mike looking on.

Even Susan Shampo got in the tangle while Walt Thompson looks on and Steve Bateman wrestles with the score card!

Shocked, Dazed and Amazed to see Ron and Sandy Gibbion! Al Stroh in the back flying his new Gibbion creation.

Alison, Steve and Mitch... Ok who flies next?

Also shocked and surprised to see NAFKA'S rich Hurd from Washington state there . Rich and Walt Thompson talk the finer points of the tangle!

Al and Sue tangled,  while I snuck off and put up my crown...what a kid magnet that crown!

Crown went up easy and looked awesome there.... every time I put that thing up kids came out of nowhere! WE had a blast and headed off to to the Strohpo's to bring in the new year. No good photos tho.....
